FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is Desert Creations?

We are located at 18161 Parthenia St., Northridge, CA 91325. The nursery is tucked away and can be difficult to find for first time visitors.

You can find us right across the street from UHAUL. We are behind the small brown building which houses a floral shop.

What are Your Hours?

Nursery and Gift Shop is open Saturday 10am-3pm, Sunday 11am-3pm & Monday 10am-3pm. Please call/text Kim at 818-679-6548 to schedule an appointment outside of our business hours and we can try to accommodate you with a 24 hour notice.

Who Owns Desert Creations?

Desert Creations is owned and operated by Artie and Kim Chavez whose passion for plants continues to drive the nurseries success year after year. We are a family (and close friend) run business; which includes the help from Nikki and Teri.

Can I Buy Seeds from Desert Creations?

Unfortunately the nursery does not offer plant seeds for sale.

Do You Have a Print Catalog or Price List?

The nursery currently has a plant catalog in the works. When the catalog is complete we will make an announcement via this site and our social media.

Do You Special Order Plants?

Yes, Desert Creations is always accepting wish lists and special requests from customers. We will do our best to find what you’re looking for if we don’t already have it in stock. Check back with us frequently as we have new plants arrive weekly!

Do You Ship internationally?

Due to the complexity and legal constraints involved in shipping cacti and succulents overseas, we do not ship internationally at this time nor do we expect to in the future.

Why does it cost so much to ship your plants?

Shipping costs are based on these factors; the cost of the carrier, the cost of labor to pull plants, pack plants, process orders, and getting them to the post office, as well as price of the shipping materials. Prices will vary especially when being shipped to the far east coast of the U.S.

Do you sell wholesale or have discounts for landscapers or other nurseries?

Desert Creations is a specialty nursery and therefore does not stock large quantities of plants intended for wholesale purchase. But we will try to accommodate your specific needs.

Does the nursery have sales?

Desert Creations holds a number of sales throughout the year in which we provide generous discounts on plants, pottery, and gift shop items. Follow us on social media or join our mailing list and be the first to know about our sales events.

Can You Give Me Recommendations for Landscaping Plants?

We are happy to offer our recommendations based on information you can provide to us including your cold hardiness zone, sun exposure, watering needs, your design visions, and any other relevant details.

I purchased a plant from your nursery and it’s not doing too well, can you help?

We want all of our customers to be successful with their plants. To diagnose your sick plant, it is helpful to bring the plant to the nursery so we can see it firsthand in order to provide insights and advice. If you are unable to bring the plant in, you can email us photos of the plant and description of the problem to info@desertcreations.net.

My plants arrived and they don’t look like what I was expecting.

If you feel you have received an abnormal plant or it’s just not what you wanted, please contact us within 24 hours to report a potential problem requiring credit or replacement.

Is the Nursery Kid Friendly?

Of course, many families find the nursery offers a wealth of wonder and inspiration for young minds. However, please refrain from allowing your children to engage in roughhousing, horseplay, running, etc. Given we’re home to a large range of prickly, thorny, sharp, spiky plants, we want to make sure your kids have a safe and fun experience.

Are pets allowed at the nursery?

Yes, pets are allowed but they must remain on a leash and under your control at all times.

Can I take photos at the nursery?

Absolutely! We encourage photography and would love to have you tag us in your social media posts.
